We’re happy to announce the fall Cloud Computing for Bioinformatics workshop sponsored by the UC Davis Bioinformatics Core at Genome Center workshop will be held September 17-18, 2012. The workshop covers the basics of cloud computing with a focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS) including account signup, overview of services offered focusing on those key to bioinformatics, identity and security, creation and customization of machine images, data movement and processing, monitoring, and more. The cloud computing workshop is specifically designed for researchers in small and medium-sized labs who need to leverage IT resources for data analysis as well as bioinformaticians looking to leverage the quick turnaround time cloud services offer.
Experience with cloud computing is not necessary as this hands-on workshop is designed to get you up to speed from absolute novice to launching a cloud instance before lunch on the 1st day. Experienced users will also find the class helpful as we go over best practices and the latest software for bioinformatics on the cloud. Class size is limited to ensure each student receives full attention as well as plenty of access to instructors for questions. Check back as we will be posting more information on the workshop as it becomes available.
