Here are some common questions and answers regarding the bioinformatics courses and workshops of the Bioinformatics Core. If you have a question and don’t see your answer here, please don’t hesitate to write us at ucdbio@gmail.com.
Are your courses & bootcamps open to non-university attendees?
Our bioinformatics bootcamps and our yearly Bioinformatics Short Course are open to all scientists, both within the UC system and from other universities & industry professionals. Our goal is to educate on emerging technologies, and the more knowledge we can share, the better.
I’m interested in the workshops, does my fee include hotel/transportation?
Fees for all our courses and workshops include catered lunches and breaks (usually two breaks per day), but do not include hotel, parking or transportation accommodations. Those are up to the individual to coordinate. Our accommodations page has some recommendations for those coming to visit us from afar.
What do I need to bring for the courses/workshops?
The bootcamps and workshops require each person to have a laptop on hand with a functioning web browser. For some bootcamps, you’ll need administrator accounts on your laptop in order to install the software tools and packages necessary for working with the example data. Other than this, please bring your typical note-taking accoutrements as well as a valid ID.
Laptop, huh? I have a MacBook, is that ok?
Sure! Macs running the unix-based OS X and later make great computers for running various tools.
Don’t you guys run a week-long course, too?
We absolutely do! Our week-long Bioinformatics Short Course is open for registration! Click here to register.
I need an invoice for my records, where can I get it?
Registration confirmations and invoices will be emailed within one business day of your registration. If you do not receive a confirmation or it is incorrect, please email us at ucdbio@gmail.com.
